About us

Opera Diaspora's mission is to bring more diversity and inclusivity in opera. We aim to do this through casting and artistic staffing in our productions and a drive to recruit new audiences from different cultural and social groups. We champion singers and staff from ethnic minorities, disadvantaged backgrounds and outstanding artists who may have disabilities which may be seen or unseen.

Our debut production Die Fledermaus was showcased at the world's oldest surviving grand music hall, Wilton's Music Hall in London's historic east end. The cast and staff comprised of singers and artists mainly from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Backgrounds, with some singers with disabilities in lead roles. Many of our audiences who came, and majority of our opera chorus members have never been to the opera nor have heard and seen an orchestra play live.
